This product could have been so good
After looking for the correct shade of eye brow pencil for my colouring for months I finally found it with this product, however after a few days it needed sharpening but every time I tried the pencil broke. I finally took it back to the Lancôme counter and was told by the guy there he has the same problem with his and it was due to a plastic strip going all the way down between the outside of the pencil and the lead and in future only take a small amount off when sharpening, this does not work as you don't get enough lead to use and no point can be achieved for finer lines!

Sorry Lancome not up to standard
I have the same problem with the pencil. It constantly breaks as its being sharpened. You never actually get it to a useable length. It completely goes to powder. The wood shatters and the plastic strip must be the problem. Its almost as if its very old. I only bought it a couple of weeks ago and through trying to get it to work have less than half of it left. This is the only Lancome product that I am not happy with. Product Ref is 010 Blond 62L41S. Very disappointed - not just Poor, but Very Poor taking into account its cost.

No problems!
I had to leave this review, purely to state that unlike many other reviewers, I have never had any problems with sharpening or breaking this product. I have it in 2 shades 04 Chatain and 05 Brun, and a cheap, unbranded cosmetic pencil sharpener and, as I have said above, have never had any problems with sharpening either of them. The only downside I personally feel to this product is that the finish is powdery and prone to rubbing off/transfer, and unless kept sharp the pencil can be too thick to apply naturally.

Love this pencil
I have re-purchased this eyebrow pencil several times over the years. I use the colour blonde, and even though I change the tone of my hair on a regular basis from brown to currently grey-blonde, the colour of my eyebrows still work. It's a nice natural colour. I've never had a problem with the pencil being broken after purchasing online and in-store. And the brush on the end is so handy to groom brows before applying the pencil. It is a pricey product but worth it I think. It lasts ages.

That's interesting!
My first eye brow pencil I was given in a complementary pack. I was having chemo and the hospital had a feel good look good session that I attended. That was 5 years ago and my pencil was excellent, sharpened time after time until it ran out. While I was holidaying in Gilbrater I picked myself up a new one. I used it and it was fine until it needed sharpening, I had to keep sharpening it because it kept breaking, I am now left with a stub of pencil, I thought maybe because it was brought in a different country perhaps it was sub standard. I was all prepared to order another one because I love the colour of this pencil. But now I am not going to bother. Lancôme you need to sort this out, it is unacceptable that the price being paid for this item and customers are unable to use this. This problem seems to be going on for years.

Dreadful product
I experienced exactly the same problems with this product that the other reviewers have outlined. When I contacted Lancome, I was advised that the only compatible sharpeners are by Urban Decay and Yves Saint Laurent. I was not advised of this at the time of purchase. After one sharpening I have just half a pencil left.

Dreadfully annoying, try sharpening..disaster!
I have used Lancome products for over 20 years and love them all except this Eyebrow pencil the design perfect, the brush perfect, the colour perfect, BUT try to sharpen it and because of a strong plastic inner layer around the pencil more goes into the dustbin than on my eyebrows.

Perfect Colour - Shame about the malfunction
I too have had the same problem as others of not being able to sharpen this pencil without breakage - until I read the other reviews I thought it was just me and perhaps my sharpner ! This has now put me off buying another and I will look for an alternative product
